Ford Sync Steps It Up With Just The Right Car Accessories
The interior of your car is just like your pink room while far away from home. Thus, you make it pleasant so that you will spend respite conveniently. All interior accessories should be all set and functioning well. Among the most useful and perhaps necessary gadgets (relative to your lifestyle), are the cell phones and players. These devices allow you to be anywhere while still getting connected with your friends and at the same time, enjoying your favorite music.
Such useful and entertaining gadgets are continuously developed by manufacturers. Fortunately, Ford has come up with an advanced design known as Ford Sync. This has been a joint project of Ford and Microsoft.
Instead of having a separate connection for the phones and players, Ford Sync is an all-in-one solution that can be updated from time to time. This sync targets “generation Y”, which refers to the people born between 1981 and 1995.
There are many vehicles that are provided with the connection from digital music players to the audio system. With these, you still have to cycle through your songs on the player itself or if not, a connection will be used to allow the iPod play via the dashboard’s audio controls. Similarly, Bluetooth wireless phone connections have also been used over the years. This allows you to interface with a wireless headset or other applicable gadgets.
How does it work?Sync can interface with just about any player or Bluetooth cell phone. This will allow any of your passengers to connect their phones through the integrated Bluetooth technology. The software will detect an address book and transfer the contacts to an internal database. Similar to other Bluetooth cellphone links, Sync can let you enjoy hands-free calling. This can be done by pushing a button on the steering wheel, then speak the name or number of the person you want to call.
From the traditional Bluetooth path, Sync diverts path by using text-to-speech technology to read aloud any text messages. The system is designed to effectively translate commonly used text message phrases. You can also make a reply to an audible text message from one of 20 predefined responses.
Other features such as caller ID, conference calling, caller log, call waiting, and signal strength are also found on Sync. Further, your personal ring tones can also be played. The mp3 players are connected to the system through a USB 2.0 port, which can also charge the player. You can operate the player through voice commands too. Just make sure that the music is properly filed from genre to genre.
Sync is upgradeable. Ford and Microsoft are working hand on hand to allow dealer service technicians to perform updates. Also, updates are made available thru the internet so that you can download and install them yourself.
How much does it cost? Totally not cheap, I bet.
